Adventures Together

Events for families range from Shabbat and holiday celebrations to kayak nights, cookouts, open house fun during the South Hills’ annual birthday party and special pool-centric events at the Family Park in Monroeville every summer.

Highlights in Squirrel Hill include Kef (fun) Weekends several times a year with Got Shabbat events on Saturdays and Family Shabbat Dinners on Fridays, the annual Snyder Family Purim Carnival, and July 4 cookouts at the Family Park.

In the South Hills, families look forward to the annual South Hills Birthday Bash, Fall Open House and community-wide Purim carnival.

Community Yom Ha’azmaut

The Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration in Squirrel Hill offers a one-stop Israeli experience in Pittsburgh at the JCC throughout the afternoon and evening, with many events and activities for all ages

Chef Carmit Elkayam — a cookbook author from Pittsburgh’s Partnership Region, Misgav — specializes in combining dishes from Israel’s diverse culinary traditions to maximize nutrition. She competed on “Mischakei Hachef,” Israeli TV’s chef face-off.
