Shevet: grades 8-9
[email protected]

Shevet, a partner program with Moving Traditions, focuses on the questions that teen boys ask as they journey toward manhood and connects these questions to the ethical, spiritual and psychological insights of Judaism. The Shevet curriculum connects Jewish ideas, stories and ethics to the most challenging issues in the lives of teen boys: competition, aggression, power, academic stress and risk-taking. Shevet balances play with engaging debate in a safe environment that teen boys enjoy. Meets monthly.

New! Pittsburgh Teens for Israel:
grades 9-12

Chris Herman, [email protected]

Students for Israel is a group of students who share their love of Israel by organizing social, cultural and political events on The Second Floor at the JCC and in the community. Students work with two Israeli post-high school students serving as shinshinim in the Pittsburgh community. A shinshin is an 18-year-old emissary sent by the Israeli government and the Jewish Agency for Israel to communities abroad with the goal of educating people of all ages about Israel and Israeli culture. Together, students will build meaningful experiences centered on Israel such as the teen Yom Ha’aztmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) celebration.
