New Fitness Equipment / New Challenges!

Posted by Laurie Wood on May 11, 2017

As I await the delivery of our new equipment to Squirrel Hill Centerfit, I’ve been thinking about how much has changed!  Cardio equipment has evolved from just providing a great workout to providing a great entertaining workout.

Yes, most of our cardio machines already have their own private televisions. We even have machines that simulate outdoor biking. But with this new fleet of machines, we will be expanding internet capabilities.

Our new machines will be able to communicate with our service provider if something is wrong and our service technicians will know exactly what parts to bring with them. That will dramatically decrease the down-times for machines that need repair.

About some of our new pieces of equipment:
  • Precor has also launched a new Elliptical that has a patented Converging Crossramp. You will notice it as a more natural stride for an even better workout experience. Precor’s AMT is still very popular, so we decided to purchase 2 additional AMTs to decrease wait times for our members.
  • Life Fitness is making a comeback to our cardio options!! You will see 2 Life Fitness Ellipticals and a Life Fitness Power Mill (the stair climber with actual stairs). Members approached me about wanting an additional PowerMill – so we listened!
  • Our Personal Trainers are also excited to train their clients on our new VersaClimber– studies have proven a VersaClimber workout burns more fat and calories in 15 minutes than treadmills, ellipticals, Steppers and bikes.
  • Cybex will have 2 additional treadmills on our Cardio Deck. They have been very popular because of their variable cushioning belt, inspired by smart running shoes. Called IS3 Intelligent Suspension, this cushioning has different levels of firmness throughout the track to help promote endurance and prevent injury and they have a lower profile making it easier to step up onto the machine.

Because we listen to our members and track what machines are used more often, we tailored our purchases to increase the number of popular machines to limit any wait time or the need for us to monitor sign-up sheets!
