Did you maybe eat a little bit too much turkey or stuffing over Thanksgiving and the subsequent weekend? Maybe indulged in one too many pieces of pie? Feeling like you fell off the wagon a little bit? Don’t worry about it! No, really, don’t worry about it. So you could have been better during the holiday, eaten a little less or made better choices for yourself. But right now, in this moment, don’t continue to worry about it. That was last Thursday and you can no longer change what you ate or did. As everyone’s grandmother would say- “don’t cry over spilt milk!” Instead of focusing on what you did eat, focus on the future and what you can change!
Today, you can make the choice to eat a healthier next meal or to work out today instead of sitting on the couch. At any time in the course of your day or even in the middle of a meal, you can choose to make healthier choices. You don’t need to “start next Monday” or feel like an entire day is “ruined” just because you ate something that wasn’t the healthiest option out there. (Did you notice I didn’t say “bad food?” We can talk about that more about that at a later date.) Regardless of what you’ve already eaten today or what you ate during Thanksgiving, you can start fresh whenever you choose!
So, instead of making yourself feel bad for what you did or didn’t do over the holiday, make a choice today to do something that makes you feel better about yourself. That can be something small such as tidying up your living room, going for that extra helping of fresh veggies instead of your starch choice, or going for a walk in the crisp fall air. Either way, do something today that makes you feel healthy.
