Our first Virtual Seder!

A program of the JCC Center for Loving Kindness and 2forSeder

Passover Through Art, Jewish Values and Loving Kindness

Join Rabbi Ron Symons and Melissa Hiller from the JCC PGH Center for Loving Kindness in a dynamic exploration of Passover art, Jewish values and loving kindness.  In this celebratory season, when many of us are accustomed to sitting at large tables with family, friends, food and tradition, this year’s Passover Seder experience will be more quiet for all of us.  That being said, just as the charoset of slavery is sweet, so too can our seders in the midst of Coronavirus be joyous.

Our five conversations will bring us together in communal exploration and kindness and might serve as conversation starters for your Passover table.  We welcome people of all backgrounds and opinions and look forward to how the conversation will be richer because of you.

Where Are We Leaving? Where Are We Going?
Based on Gabriel Cohen’s Exodus
How does the perennial story of the Exodus remind us of ancient and modern day forms of hatred…. And our responsibility to end it?

The Story of One Family’s Box of Matzah.
Based on Josh Rolston’s Horowitz Margareten Matzoh
With a name like ‘Horowitz Margareten’ it’s got to be good!  How a label on a box tells the story of one family  and inspires us to ask – how is their story our story?

Our First Conversation: Who Are the Four Sons in our World Today?

Monday, March 30, 11:00 – 11:20 AM
Who Are the Four Sons in our World Today?
Based on the illustrations of Arthur Szyk’s Haggadah
How do first impressions get in our way?

Wednesday, April 1, 11:00 – 11:20 AM
Who is Leading Our Seder?
Based on Nicole Eisenman’s Seder
How do we mesh traditional and emerging leadership at home and in public?

“It’s Passover, Grover!”

The JCC Association of North America and Shalom Sesame are proud to present, “It’s Passover, Grover!” Join us live on Monday, April 13 at 3 pm ET as we come together to learn about the story of Passover, different rituals, and other fun facts about this celebration of freedom!

“It’s almost time to celebrate Passover, and there is no horseradish to be found. Grover, Anneliese van der Pol, and Avigail put their heads together to track it down, but things get tricky when there is an Oofnik involved!”

From the creators of Sesame Street, Shalom Sesame is a cross-platform media initiative developed to introduce American children to Jewish culture, Hebrew language and the diversity of Israel.
