Missing McKeesport – Film Premiere Event

Mueller Center, Heinz History Center

August 20, 2017

1:30 pm

Missing McKeesport: A Remembrance of the Thriving Jewish Community that Shaped a Generation, tells the story of the Jewish community of McKeesport, the Pennsylvania town that in its steel-making heyday thrived with a population of 55,000, four synagogues – as many as seven, some say – and a multitude of Jewish-owned businesses catering to the needs of its citizenry.

This feature-length documentary film draws on the resources of the Rauh Jewish History Program & Archives at the Detre Library & Archives, preserving and sharing the story of McKeesport’s past through the personal accounts of the sons and daughters of the immigrants who settled there.

The film premiere will be followed by an in-person Q&A with the film’s creator, McKeesport-native Sam Zolten.
