One of the most unique things about PT @ the JCC powered by the JAA is our dynamic location. Just steps away from a state-of the-art fitness and aquatic center, we at PT @ the JCC are able to utilize these wonderful facilities to help any physical therapy patient meet his or her goals.
Perhaps more importantly is the relationship PT @ the JCC has formed with the amazing JCC Personal Training staff. Any time a personal trainer believes one of their clients is in need of an orthopedic assessment, we offer a free consultation to see if PT is indicated. If so, we work together to develop a plan combining physical therapy services with personal training. The PT and trainer are able to communicate on a regular basis about the individual’s progress and make appropriate advances and adjustments based on their response to treatment.
The physical therapy professional believes strongly in continuing with an individualized home exercise program after graduation from PT. We think there is no better way for a patient to build upon their PT experience than under the guidance and supervision of a highly skilled personal trainer. We often recommend to patients that they consider personal training services to continue their “circle-of –wellness.”
In this case, the PT @ the JCC physical therapist will meet with the head of JCC personal training and play matchmaker. Because the relationship between client and trainer is so critical, we want to create a great fit. Once a trainer is selected, a meeting is set up with patient/client, PT and personal trainer. At this time, with the patient’s consent, a discussion is held about the patient’s rehabilitation, medical history and any important health concerns that may impact their personal training plan.
As the patient moves forward with personal training, PT @ the JCC is always available to consult with the patient or trainer. We think this a great partnership and an integral piece to the Wellness Continuum at the JCC!
