Maccabi Delegation Dorm Staff
At the JCC Maccabi Campus Games in Pittsburgh, we will be piloting a new accommodation model. All participants, including athletes, coaches, chaperones, and DHs, will stay in the University of Pittsburgh dorms. The model is a partnership between the JCC Association and the host community, led by the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh, who will work together to provide a smooth, safe, and fun experience in cooperation with all delegations.
In addition to the DH, coaches, and chaperones, each delegation will bring Delegation Dorm Staff at a 1:25 adult-to-teen ratio to supervise athletes when at the dorms. These staff members will act as the responsible party for their 25 teens for the duration of the dorm experience. Delegations bringing less than 25 athletes will be paired and will share a dorm staff person. Those delegations should come to a decision together on who will bring the staff person and how to share the cost based on the ratio of athletes. If necessary, JCC Association will assist in finding a dorm staff person, with the cost being passed on to the delegations.
Staff must be 21+ and available August 3-8, 2025. Responsible adults who have experience and/or are comfortable working with teens would be the right fit. We are looking for high-energy, team players who bring a can-do, problem-solving attitude to our program. Interested adults must be able to pass a background check. This position will pay a stipend of $1,500 to be paid in full by August 15, 2025.
Before the games there is a required staff training on Wednesday July 9, 2025 from 8-9 pm. There is also an optional training on Sunday June 8, 2025 from 7:30-9 pm.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the overall safety and well-being of athletes while at the dorm
- Pitching in as part of the overall dorm team to help implement the operational and logistical plan
- Supervising the unloading and loading of buses or putting athletes on the correct walking path
- Checking athletes in and out of the dorms
- Morning wake-up for teens
- Supervising breakfast
- Supervising the collection and distribution of laundry
- Setting up in preparation for dorm activities and 4th meal
- Supervising evening social experiences and food distribution
- Nighttime curfew bed-checks
- Responsible for 25 teens within their delegation or for shared delegations and on call overnight in case of emergency
- Required hours are 9 pm to 9 am, you will check in with Maccabi leaders before the start and end of each shift to discuss teen health, mental health, and any issues you incurred that may not have been communicated overnight.
Essential Job duties:

Lead Educator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for classroom oversight and implementation of approved curriculum in the Early Childhood team.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares weekly lesson plans for classroom within the guidelines of the program curriculum.

Swim Instructor

Clinician
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pittsburgh Resiliency Center, 10.27 Healing Partnership, is the central coordinating agency for the region’s response to the deadly synagogue shooting that took place on October 27, 2018. Housed at and sponsored by the Jewish Community Center, it seeks to provide support and resources to promote healing and resiliency to all members of the greater Pittsburgh community who were impacted directly or indirectly by the October 27, 2018, synagogue shooting. Primarily, we do this through victims services, trauma healing and wellness, and helping build the narrative led by the six organizational values defined here:

Safety & Security Officer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our members, staff, and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to surveillance and conflict management, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed diligently. Secures the buildings by patrolling and inspecting the premises, monitoring security cameras, guarding entry points and verifying access. Ensures security initiatives and procedures for the agency wide Security organization of the JCC are followed. This position requires extensive certifications and permits as listed below.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complies with security standards for the JCC.
- Provides agency support regarding access control, cameras and IT issues as needed.
- Monitors security cameras to ensure agency security standards are upheld.
- Conducts security patrols and ensures that proper protocols are in place throughout the agency.
- Ensures that property is protected from theft, fire and accidents.
- Performs First Aid and facilitates the arrival of emergency personnel and provides appropriate documentation of all incidents and accidents as needed.
- Works closely with security personnel to ensure proper staffing levels with an emphasis on special and after hour events.
- Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult, irate or emotionally upset people and situations, both in person and over the phone.
- Ability to remain calm in difficult, dangerous and high stress emergency situations.

Peer Engagement Intern
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Peer Engagement Internship is a 10-month paid internship for teens through The Second Floor at the JCC. Interns serve as connectors and builders of Jewish life in Pittsburgh, utilizing their own social networks and creating relationships with Jewish students across the community. Interns attend monthly skill-building workshops and create their own teen-led programs to welcome their peers to The Second Floor space.
Throughout the year, PEIs will meet monthly, beginning with an immersive leadership training experience and followed by monthly training seminars and individual check-ins. These workshops and experiences provide opportunities for real-world skill building in social network mapping, event planning, communication, community organizing, and peer-to-peer engagement. PEIs will also have the opportunity to work with different staff at the JCC, both in our Teen Department and across the agency. Interested students must be in grades 10-12 and over the age of 16 to apply. All First-Year Peer Engagement Interns will be paid at a rate of $9/hour and Returning PEIs will be paid at a rate of $10/hour for the 2024-2025 school year.
All interns are expected to:
- Attend mandatory monthly meetings and trainings.
- Connect their peers to opportunities that match their interests.
- Engage with teens in the space during working hours.
- Have a fun, outgoing, and friendly attitude!
- Assist in staffing The Second Floor teen space during open hours at least once a week.

Fitness Floor Staff
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, located in Squirrel Hill, is currently looking for part time Fitness Floor staff to join our team. Current available shifts include evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure all equipment is in working order: inspect equipment and power sources/cords for defects or malfunctions, utilize the Equipment Maintenance Log to communicate resolved and unresolved issues. Report any issues via established protocol and resources.
- Clean equipment daily: clean the floor, particularly under and around cardiovascular equipment; wipe down equipment pads and grips with disinfectant; dust off or wipe down all exterior surfaces of strength training equipment.
- Re-rack all weights, bars, and attachments to maintain a neat, organized workout area.
- Provide quality customer service to our members: welcome all to the Fitness Center, provide encouragement/assistance in achieving fitness goals, answer questions, take messages, assist with emergencies, provide members with information as needed, perform adjustments to TVs and viewing screens, and educate members about policies/procedures.
- Must be knowledgeable about all safety and emergency procedures for the equipment and for the JCC. Ensure member safety while on duty.
- Learn, follow, and enforce all JCC rules, policies and procedures. Follow departmental dress code policy.

The Clubhouse afterschool program provides care for children grades K-5 through fun and engaging activities and homework support after a day at school. PJ Library Ambassador
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan at least one meaningful experience each month that is connected to an element of Jewish values, ritual, or history, and that is inspired by the needs and desires of the families being served. PJ Library families have children from infants to 8 years old. PJ Our Way continues up until age 12.
- Participate in ongoing professional development including regular manager meetings and monthly team meetings designed to support the Ambassador’s role in the community
- Deepen individual relationships with families through 1:1 phone calls, virtual or in-person meet-ups, and emails. Primary focus will be placed on newly enrolled PJ Library families.
- Assist in the marketing of PJ Library community events by creating and distributing promotional materials to support the events that you are running. Ambassadors should be comfortable using a variety of platforms, including email, Zoom, Canva, etc.
- Provide support to at least one PJ Library Core program or fellow Ambassador program as needed.

Early Childhood Development Center Operation Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as lead opener of Early Childhood every morning.
- Daily management of educator schedule inclusive of coverage and PTO calendar.
- Supports South Hills ECDC Associate Director and works closely with Agency Compliance Officer to ensure child and educator files are up to date and in compliance with Department of Human Services regulation.

Specialty Camp Counselor - J&R Day Camp Monroeville and Pittsburgh, Summer 2025
Who We Are
JCC Specialty Camps are located in Pittsburgh, PA and Monroeville, PA. Owned and operated by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh, Specialty Camps are co-ed day camps with an emphasis on team building, developing positive values, independence and premiere programming led by expert vendors. Our child-centered environment focuses on creating community and enriching the lives of our campers, families and staff. We serve children ages 5-14 through meaningful experiences that focus on building connections, teaching values, fostering individual growth and having fun. The JCC Day Camp experience supports, nourishes and sustains our campers, families and staff. We are professionals who have chosen to make a difference.
JCC Specialty Camps are open and accessible to everyone, regardless of age, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or special need by welcoming individuals of all backgrounds, embracing their uniqueness and diversity under our communal tent. JCC Specialty Camps strives to create connections among campers, families and staff. We grow our campers through the lens of strong Jewish values and morals. Our facilities and experiences create an atmosphere of safety and fun for each person involved.
General Responsibilities:
Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being. Maintains daily schedule for campers.
Desired Qualifications:
- Desire and willingness to work with children outdoors in a day camp setting
- Must be at least 15 years old by June 16, 2025
- Ability and willingness to accept supervision and guidance
- Good character, integrity, and adaptability
Specific Responsibilities:
- Participate in Staff Orientation Week (June 16-20, 2025)
- Actively participate in all staff training and meetings
- Be responsible for the general health and safety of assigned campers
- Establish an atmosphere of security, enjoyment, and belonging for all campers
- Develop a positive relationship with each camper
- Work with Specialty Camps Director & Coordinator to manage allergies of campers in your group
- Provide opportunities for all campers to be successful at camp
- Communicate matters of concern regarding a camper or the group to Unit Head
- Enforce camp safety regulations
- Work effectively with co-counselors to ensure the physical, mental, and social well-being of all campers
- Always supervise campers under immediate care during the camp day including activities, camper arrival, mealtimes, swim lesson, and dismissal
- Actively participate in all camper activities
- Set a good example in all areas of camp life, act as a role model and contributing member of the camp team
Additional Responsibilities:
- Set a good example for campers including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing cleanup, and sportsmanship
- Follow camp rules and regulations
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities
- Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Compensation:
- $9-13/hr depending on experience and education

Physical Qualifications:
While performing duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to obtain ACT 33/34 and FBI clearances and mandated reporter training.

- Work with Specialty Camps Director and Specialty Camps Coordinator to implement behavior charts, visual schedules, etc. specific to individual camper needs
- Communicate and collaborate with Specialty Camps Director and Specialty Camps Coordinator
- Participate in group activities daily to better understand camper behaviors and group social dynamics to support counselors and specialists as they navigate and accommodate camper needs
- Communicate and collaborate professionally with other providers who might be supporting campers via other agencies
- Be open to learning positive behavior support methodologies regardless of background/training/past experiences working with children
- Maintain an open mind related to functions of behavior related to camper needs
- Demonstrate resilience when collaborating with Specialty Camp staff and/or advocating for camper needs
- Display emotional maturity: Don’t be afraid to ask for help and/or acknowledge you are in the process of learning

Unit Head – Emma Kaufmann Camp, Summer 2025
General Responsibility:
Desired Qualifications:
- At least 20 years of age
- Prior experience working with children
- Commitment to promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among campers
- Ability and willingness to accept supervision and guidance
- Organizational skills to plan, schedule, and coordinate schedules
- Enthusiasm for working with children and fostering skill development in an inclusive, encouraging environment
- Experience working with children ages 6-16 in a recreational setting
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Capacity to work with a broad range of people
- Strong abilities both to collaborate with a team and work autonomously
Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Attend Head Staff and General Staff Orientation, May 28-June 14, 2025
- Responsible for the supervision of the Unit Counselors – oversee and support unit counselors, providing feedback, training, and assistance as needed
- Provide written evaluations for counselors at the end of each session
- Oversee the social, emotional, and physical needs of campers, ensuring a safe and positive experience
- Work closely with the Camper Care Specialist to address camper needs, concerns, and behavioral issues
- Address camper and staff challenges with patience and problem-solving strategies
- Act as a resource for programming, including Sikkum Moments, rainy day plans, and first/final day programs
- Lead weekly evening meetings, ensure schedules run smoothly, and maintain a positive unit culture
- Oversee letter writing, lost & found, mail, and package distribution
- Coordinate with program staff for Campers Choice, Chugim, and Leagues sign-ups
- Work closely with fellow leadership team members to support overall camp operations.
- Be responsible for planning and executing unit programs as needed
- Facilitate the clean-up after activities led by unit
- Assists the programming team in set up and breakdown of programs, including but not limited to unit programs, staff programs, and signature events
- Be punctual to all programs and meetings
- Be responsible for the proper use of equipment and supplies
- Cooperate with Camp leadership in matters involving rules, safety, & programming
- Set a good example in all areas of camp life; act as a role model
- Be a positive, contributing member of the camp team
Additional Responsibilities:
- Set a good example for campers including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing cleanup and chores, and sportsmanship
- Follow camp rules and regulations
- Keep a clean and tidy cabin and living space
- Complete duties as assigned
- Attend all staff meetings as directed
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities

Compensation
- $4,250 – $6,000 depending on experience
