New Year, New Programs!

This New Year has escorted in some seriously cold weather. It’s the perfect time for the launch of exciting new sports and recreational classes that will get kids moving and active!  So come join us inside at the JCC and see what these new programs are all about!

MINI- MACCABI (grades 3-6) Do you LOVE sports?  Then this is a perfect program for you!  A once monthly program to hang out with your peers to play various sports and games.  A pizza lunch will be provided following the activity.  Sign up for all four or for a one-time session!  The first session is Sunday, January 21, from 11 am-1 pm.

GAMES GALORE (preschool ages 3-5) This class will include a variety of gym games to help develop and enhance coordination, balance and gross motor skills.  Games include obstacle courses, parachute games, scooter play and more!  The winter session will run on Sundays from 10-10:30 am, January 14-March 4.

GYM AND SWIM (preschool ages 3-5) This one hour class will give your child the best of both worlds!  Gym games will last 30 minutes long and will include a variety of sports and activities to enhance gross motor skill development, balance and coordination.  This will be followed by 20 minutes of swimming and pool games!  Parents are welcome to enter the water during the swim session, but are not required to.  This session will run Monday evenings from 5:30-6:30 pm, January 15-March 8.

GYMNASTICS (grades 3-6) This class will enhance your child’s flexibility, balance, and strength while he or she will learn to properly and safely execute rolls and various floor exercises.  This class is taught by Madison Baxter, who has a master’s degree in wellness and fitness, and is the manager and coach at Willow Tree Gymnastics, with many years of experience in teaching strength, flexibility, balance and core work.  Gymnastics takes place from 6:15-7 pm on Tuesday evenings from January 16-March 6.

TENNIS (ages 5-14) Join Coach Mark Haffner and learn the rules and fundamentals of tennis.  Offering two different skill levels, you are sure to find a class that fits your child’s needs.  Coach Haffner has been teaching tennis at the JCC for over 20 years and also runs our Tennis Specialty Camps in the summer.  He was named the 2010 USTA Tennis Professional of the Year!  Tennis classes take place on Friday afternoons, January 12-March 9 (no class January 19)

  • Introductory Tennis – 4-5 pm
  • Intermediate Tennis – 5-6 pm

Coach Mark also offers private lessons at the JCC. Come learn from one of the best!
