JCC State of Mind: June 13, 2025 – Camp is here!

Here we are again. It never gets old, no matter how many times we do it. This Sunday, the JCC welcomes summer with HEART, with PURPOSE, and with RUACH (SPIRIT)! Summer is, without a doubt, one the most joyful and meaningful times of the year for our agency and the moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here – the start of the JCC camp season. We are thrilled to welcome our campers back for a summer full of adventure, learning, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.

What many don’t see is the incredible amount of preparation that goes into making camp feel so comfortable. Months of behind-the-scenes work, planning, training, and coordination go into creating a safe, welcoming, and enriching experience for every child who attends a JCC day or overnight camp. Our dedicated staff — from counselors and specialists to directors and support teams — pour their hearts into every detail and work tirelessly to bring to life the JCC brand of camping: connections, values, growth, and fun.

At its core, camp is about so much more than just activities or schedules. It’s where friendships are born, confidence is built, and young people learn to be part of something bigger than themselves. It’s a place where the JCC’s Sheva Lenses – journey, dignity, belonging, gratitude, curiosity, presence, and responsibility – come to life in the cheers of teamwork, the moments of kindness, and the shared experiences that bind campers and staff together. In a world that can feel increasingly disconnected and overwhelming, camp is one of the most powerful tools we have to get back to basics and build and support community.

Wishing you and your families a Shabbat shalom,

Jason
