AgeWell at the JCC South Hills

With support of the Jack Buncher Foundation, the JCC is pleased to announce the pilot of a new Senior Center in the JCC South Hills facility. The expanded services greatly enhance the already robust fitness and wellness programming for older adults at the JCC South Hills.
AgeWell at the JCC South Hills, based in a newly renovated space at the South Hills JCC, offers low-cost kosher style Grab-and-Go lunches and a wide variety of services, classes and socialization activities.

Individuals ages 60 and older can register to participate.

AgeWell at the JCC South Hills operates:

  • Mondays and Fridays, 9 am-noon
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9 am to 2 pm.

Offerings include:

  • Low cost kosher style Grab-and-Go lunch. Seating options are available for participants to enjoy their meal with friends.
  • Information and referral services
  • Wellness programming
  • Evidence-based and evidence-informed programs such as HomeMeds, Chronic Disease Management and Aging Mastery series
  • Education opportunities in person and hybrid with virtual programming through Virtual Senior Academy
  • Clubs, social programs and get togethers
  • Volunteer opportunities

J Cafe at the JCC South Hills

Low cost kosher style Grab-and-Go lunches for registered South Hills AgeWell members are available 12:30-1:30 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.

Seating options are available for participants to enjoy their meal with friends.

Lunch costs $3 for Registered South Hills AgeWell Members.

The fee is paid through a cashless, electronic system called Punch Pass. Punch Passes can be purchased by visiting our new AgeWell Office, calling 412-446-4776, or stopping by the South Hills JCC Front Desk.

Once you have your Punch Pass, you can sign up for lunch up to three days before your visit until 12 pm the day before your lunch pickup using the “JCC Pittsburgh” app (also on the JCCPGH website HERE) or by calling 412-446-4776. Menu is subject to change.

Hayley Maher

Hayley joined AgeWell at the JCC as a Program Coordinator in South Hills in April 2023. Hayley studied Exercise Science at the University of Mount Union and has a Master’s degree in Dementia Care. She will begin MSW classes at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall of 2023. Prior to working with AgeWell, Hayley served older adults in Columbus, Ohio, as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. With AgeWell, Hayley will coordinate programs at the South Hills location and can be reached at [email protected], 412-697-3552.

Mickey Benson

Known for always having a crowded table, Mickey finds innovative ways to make people feel seen and celebrated. Following nearly a decade of service on crisis hotlines, Mickey is excited to be working within the South Hills community through AgeWell! Mickey joins AgeWell at the JCC South Hills as a part-time program coordinator. Through the unlikely fusion of an Albion College degree in Religious Studies and a surprising knack for line dancing, Mickey has crafted a unique path to success that seamlessly blends the sacred and the spirited. Most recently, they completed a Master’s degree in Jewish Nonprofit Management from the Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management at Hebrew Union College.
