Statement from the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh
Acts of violence and hatred have no place in our world. We stand with the people of Bondi Beach, Brown University, and with communities everywhere who are forced to confront such fear.
As we mark the first night of Chanukah, a time that reminds us of the enduring power of light in the face of darkness, we reaffirm our commitment to compassion and the shared responsibility to care for one another. In moments like these, we must come together to reject violence and bigotry in all its forms and strengthen our resolve to build a world rooted in dignity, safety, and humanity for all.
Before welcoming Chanukah, we invite people to come to the 10.27 Healing Partnership office in the JCC to make space for the sad as we will then also make space for the joy. You are welcome to come any time after 4pm and stay until you need to go light your menorah. There will be some prayer and comfort offered with the hugs and hot drinks.
