The Board of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh is pleased to announce a planned executive leadership succession at the agency, effective September 1, 2023.
Longtime JCC and community leader Brian Schreiber will assume a new role at the JCC as Chief External Affairs Officer & Special Advisor to the CEO after serving nearly 25 years as the agency’s President & CEO.
The JCC’s Chief Program Officer since 2017, Jason Kunzman, will become President & CEO. He will become only the third individual in 41 years to serve as the JCC’s CEO.
Schreiber has served as one of the most highly tenured executives within the JCC movement and the longest in the agency’s history since the Irene Kaufmann Centers, Emma Farm Association and the Young Men’s and Women’s Hebrew Association merged to become the JCC in 1960. He has dedicated more than 30 years of service to Pittsburgh’s Jewish community, with close to 25 years of service to the JCC.
“It has been a privilege of a lifetime to serve as the leader of an agency that plays such a prominent role in anchoring the Jewish community while serving as a trusted resource for over 30,000 individuals annually from all backgrounds and beliefs,” said Schreiber. “I have much to be thankful for and to accomplish yet in my remaining months as CEO, and in my new role at the JCC beginning this fall.”
Kunzman, who has served in a senior role at the JCC for over six years, has an illustrious career in public accounting, health care, and start-up entrepreneurship, including his previous service as the Chief Financial and Operating Officer of the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
Commenting on his appointment, Kunzman said, “I am honored to have the trust and confidence of Brian and the JCC Board to become the leader of this beloved and vital community organization. I certainly have big shoes to fill and will do everything I can to uphold the JCC’s mission and core values and magnify the impact of our work that has served this community for 128 years.”
