Whole Health Insights: What are These Feelings?

What are These Feelings?

I see many clients in their 40s and 50s. Many of them ask me the same thing; simply put, they’re saying “WTF?”

What are These Feelings?  All the things that worked in the past suddenly seem to fail.  Many people find themselves wondering “What the heck is going on?”

Common concerns include:

  • Why is it suddenly so hard to lose those 5 pounds?
  • Why do I feel bloated?
  • Why do I no longer feel good at the end of a workout?
  • Why can’t I even sleep through the night?

The reality is that the stuff that may have worked for you for the past 20 years is no longer serving you.

Let’s face it.  You are not the same person you were 20 years ago.  And who wants to go back?

Change is a fact of life; our bodies and nutritional needs change as we age.  With aging comes lower metabolism, changes in hormones and changes in our body’s stress threshold.

For some people it feels quite jarring!

Don’t be discouraged.  You can use these uncomfortable feelings as an opportunity to take a new look at some of your diet and exercise behaviors and give them an update.

In my next post, I’ll talk about How Wellness and Nutrition Coaching Can Help.

Carolyn Kontos, MS, ACC, offers Wellness & Nutrition Coaching at the JCC through her Eat Well Programs. For more information, contact Carolyn at [email protected]
