Just the other day in our Men’s Health Center, a member encountered a small disappointment. An amenity he was looking forward to using wasn’t working properly, and it would have been easy for him to respond with frustration or annoyance. Instead, he smiled and said something I haven’t stopped thinking about, “Something for me to look forward to tomorrow.”
Such a simple statement. Yet within it was a powerful lesson about perspective, patience, and optimism.
Over the last two weeks we have celebrated our Pre-K Moving Up Ceremonies in both of our early childhood locations, and while I was watching the fun unfold in Squirrel Hill this Friday, I found myself reflecting on those words again.
Our youngest learners stood proudly before family, teachers, and friends as they marked the end of one chapter and prepared for the next. Kindergarten awaits them with new classrooms, new experiences, new friendships, and countless opportunities to grow. While there is always some uncertainty in what comes next, children have a remarkable ability to focus on possibility. They look forward.

The member in our Men’s Health Center and our Pre-K graduates may seem to have little in common, but both remind us of something important. Life is full of moments when we can either dwell on what isn’t available today or embrace what tomorrow may bring.
At every stage of life, growth requires us to keep moving forward. Sometimes that means celebrating a milestone. Sometimes it means responding to an unexpected inconvenience with grace. In both cases, the choice to look ahead with hope can make all the difference.
As we congratulate our Pre-K graduates and their families, I hope we can all carry with us the wisdom found in that simple comment. “Something for me to look forward to tomorrow.”
Wishing you and your families a Shabbat shalom,
Jason
