This week at South Hills Day Camp, our campers and staff embraced one of our favorite summer traditions – Wacky Wednesday! The theme was “Future Careers,” and everyone was invited to come dressed as who they hope to be when they grow up. The results were inspiring, creative and definitely entertaining. We met a babysitter, a dermatologist, a doctor, a detective, a game show host, a camp counselor, a princess, several soccer players and even a JCC CEO!

While the costumes brought plenty of smiles, the day was about something much deeper. Camp provides children with the opportunity to imagine what their future might hold and to explore who they are becoming. It is a place where they can be their most authentic selves, discover new interests, build confidence, and see possibilities that may not have existed before. One of the greatest gifts of camp is the freedom to dream big. Whether those dreams lead to a career in medicine, sports, education, public service, or something not yet imagined, we want every camper to know that their aspirations matter. We want them to believe that ambitious goals are worth pursuing and that they have the potential to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.

As we looked around camp on Wednesday, we didn’t just see costumes. We saw future leaders, caregivers, innovators, creators, and community builders. We saw young people practicing the confidence to envision a bright and bold future for themselves. And that’s what makes camp so special. Wishing you and your families a Shabbat shalom, Jason
