JCC had a great basketball season

In addition to all of the in-house basketball leagues, camps and clinics, the JCC has “travel teams” which participate in the Metro USA League (5th-8th grades) and the Greater Pittsburgh Independent Basketball League (GPIBL) for our High School teams. These teams put on the JCC uniform with pride and travel all over the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities to compete against school districts and charter schools, community groups and religious organizations. Our teams have experienced much success over the past several years and the 2014-2015 season was no different.

  • Our Varsity Boys team played in the GPIBL Championship game for the 3rd straight season but unfortunately came up on the losing end this season. They finished 2nd the past two seasons after winning the Championship in 2012-2013.
  • The 7th Grade Boys team brought home the Metro USA Championship this season after losing in the Championship Game last season to their Squirrel Hill rival Colfax.
  • Our lone girls team, the 7th Grade Girls, also made the Championship Game for a 2nd consecutive year. Unfortunately, they came up just a bit short losing to an undefeated Beth Center team this season after going undefeated and winning the Metro USA Championship last season.

We’re very excited to be once again hosting the JCC Classic Swim meet at Family Park June 12-14.  With nearly 240 swimmers, this will be the biggest meet in history! Due to the meet, Family Park pool and locker rooms will open at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14
