Gesher Young Adult Program Coordinator
Position Overview
The Gesher Young Adult Program at the JCC provides afternoon programming for young adults who face physical, intellectual or mild emotional and behavioral challenges. We provide focused attention to each participant with an emphasis on growth and the development of life skills. Our participants learn the importance of teamwork, independence and relationship-building while enjoying the JCC’s multi-purpose rooms, dance studio, fitness areas, gymnasium, and swimming pool. We are seeking a highly motivated, caring, creative individual who can build a relationship with each participant and respond to their individual needs while doing fun, enriching, meaningful activities.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees day-to-day program operations, including, but not limited to arrival and dismissal, snack time, opening and closing procedures in program space, activity schedule.
- Ensures programming and activities focus on program goals: building relationships/socialization, building life skills and promoting physical health and wellness.
- Provides support to Gesher participants as needed to assist in implementation of Employment Initiative.
- Works with JCC finance department to ensure program registrations and scholarships are completed.
- Works with JCC staff to coordinate and schedule use of pool, gym, fitness areas, and dance studio.
- Manages participant inquiry and intake process.
- Maintains inventory of program supplies and snacks.
- Communicates with JCC staff, parents/caregivers and others regarding program updates, schedule changes and special events.
- Serves as main point of contact for participant’s support staff and/or caregivers.
- Coordinates, leads and/or participates in daily activities including, but not limited to art, cooking, swimming, yoga, sports and technology.
- Provides individualized support based on a participant’s ability to complete a certain task.
- Ensures that each participant in the program is accounted for and is monitored.
- Demonstrates respect to all participants families, and staff members.
- Creates an environment where all participants feel emotionally supported, safe, engaged, and are given the opportunity to participate in the daily activities.
- Manages undesirable behavior professionally and safely.
- Reports on a regular basis to the CYF director regarding issues of need and/or concern.
- Ability to work with a broad range of people.
- Ability to collaborate with a team and work autonomously.
- Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery.
- Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Lead Educator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for classroom oversight and implementation of approved curriculum in the Early Childhood team.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares weekly lesson plans for classroom within the guidelines of the program curriculum.
- Assists in overall administration of Early Childhood Program operations, which include, but is not limited to: oversight of gymnasium, swimming pool and center carpool program responsibilities, special events, etc.

Swim Instructor

Peer Engagement Intern
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Peer Engagement Internship is a 10-month paid internship for teens through The Second Floor at the JCC. Interns serve as connectors and builders of Jewish life in Pittsburgh, utilizing their own social networks and creating relationships with Jewish students across the community. Interns attend monthly skill-building workshops and create their own teen-led programs to welcome their peers to The Second Floor space.
Throughout the year, PEIs will meet monthly, beginning with an immersive leadership training experience and followed by monthly training seminars and individual check-ins. These workshops and experiences provide opportunities for real-world skill building in social network mapping, event planning, communication, community organizing, and peer-to-peer engagement. PEIs will also have the opportunity to work with different staff at the JCC, both in our Teen Department and across the agency. Interested students must be in grades 10-12 and over the age of 16 to apply. All First-Year Peer Engagement Interns will be paid at a rate of $9/hour and Returning PEIs will be paid at a rate of $10/hour for the 2024-2025 school year.
All interns are expected to:
- Attend mandatory monthly meetings and trainings.
- Connect their peers to opportunities that match their interests.
- Engage with teens in the space during working hours.
- Have a fun, outgoing, and friendly attitude!
- Assist in staffing The Second Floor teen space during open hours at least once a week.

Certified Personal Trainer

Counselor After-School Program
The Clubhouse afterschool program provides care for children grades K-5 through fun and engaging activities and homework support after a day at school. Our program is focused on ensuring the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of children by providing meaningful opportunities to engage with peers and choose activities based on their own interest. Activities include, but are not limited to, sports, STEM, arts and crafts, science, cooking, woodworking and more. Membership Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversees and coordinates full and part time personnel to ensure appropriate coverage as well as excellent customer experience.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates and implements strategies for short and long-range membership sales goals for the South Hills Membership Department in keeping with the mission and annual operating plan of the agency. This includes Platinum initiatives, membership sales, and Insurance Based Members (i.e., Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit, Renew Active, etc.).
- Works closely with Membership Director in the development of market research including membership statistics, retention, demographic profiles, competitive analysis, quality product standards, pricing, and satisfaction surveys.

- Manages accounting and membership service functions to ensure accurate member records and provides prompt and courteous service to customers.
- Maintains membership satisfaction surveys and other key input documents for use with retention strategies.
- Coordinates membership intake and other customer service initiatives.
- Greets and assists all members and customers; conducts facility tours.
- Maintains appropriate networks with key community agencies and services.
- Improves and creates processes for customer experience team to provide exceptional experiences to members and guests.

General Responsibility:

Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Attend Head Staff and General Staff Orientation, May 28-June 14, 2025
- Responsible for the supervision of the Unit Counselors – oversee and support unit counselors, providing feedback, training, and assistance as needed
- Provide written evaluations for counselors at the end of each session
- Oversee the social, emotional, and physical needs of campers, ensuring a safe and positive experience
- Work closely with the Camper Care Specialist to address camper needs, concerns, and behavioral issues
- Address camper and staff challenges with patience and problem-solving strategies
- Act as a resource for programming, including Sikkum Moments, rainy day plans, and first/final day programs
- Lead weekly evening meetings, ensure schedules run smoothly, and maintain a positive unit culture
- Oversee letter writing, lost & found, mail, and package distribution
- Coordinate with program staff for Campers Choice, Chugim, and Leagues sign-ups
- Work closely with fellow leadership team members to support overall camp operations.
- Be responsible for planning and executing unit programs as needed
- Facilitate the clean-up after activities led by unit
- Assists the programming team in set up and breakdown of programs, including but not limited to unit programs, staff programs, and signature events
- Be punctual to all programs and meetings
- Be responsible for the proper use of equipment and supplies
- Cooperate with Camp leadership in matters involving rules, safety, & programming
- Set a good example in all areas of camp life; act as a role model
- Be a positive, contributing member of the camp team
