Building Community: JCC Town Square

The JCC is excited to announce Town Square, the  $1.5 million renovation of the Forbes-to-Darlington corridor, externally and everything in between, that will transform the center of the community into the 21st Century to encourage social interaction with a more contemporary aesthetic , improved ease of access and upgraded security.

The JCC’s Town Square is on the Main Floor of the 31-year-old Irene Kaufmann Building, framed by two public entryways, at Forbes Avenue to Darlington Road, with the corridors running from one end to the other, spanning one full city block, meeting in the middle to form an atrium-lit indoor courtyard.

In this era of increasing isolation, Town Square, the natural result of this confluence, drives community. It’s a place where people cross paths and have chance encounters as they drop their children off at ECDC, head to work out in Centerfit, attend a senior wellness class or a community meeting, linger to view an exhibit in the American Jewish Museum or to meet a friend. It is the center of our community.
