As we prepare to celebrate Simchat Torah (the annual ending and beginning of the Torah reading cycle in synagogue), I want to let you know that there are 304,805 letters in every Torah Scroll.  Each and every one of them is a handcrafted work of art written by a scribe with special quill, ink and intention.  If one of these letters were to be missing, the Torah scroll would be incomplete and unreadable.

Just as it is with the Torah scroll, so it with us in our community.  Each and every one of us is a handcrafted work of art formed with uniqueness and intention.  If any one of us were to be missing, the Torah of our lives would not be complete.

I hope that this message resonates on a micro-level.  We should treat the ones with whom we live and work as if they are works of art.

I hope that this message resonates on a macro-level.  When communities around our country and world suffer, we are not complete.

Every person in our world makes the scroll of our lives more complete.
