This summer the Pittsburgh Jewish Community Center will be participating in the JCC Maccabi Games in Detroit, MI. Our delegation, which has been taking part in the Games for 24 years, will consist of 36 athletes, competing in the following team sports, boys & girl’s basketball, & 7x7 soccer, boys’ baseball & in line hockey, girl’s softball & volleyball and individual sports for boys or girls, bowling, dance, golf, swimming, table tennis, tennis, and track and field.

Building on the success of the past 25 years, we are confident that this will be another Gold Medal set of Games.

The JCC Maccabi Games is an Olympic-style sports event held in multiple communities each summer in North America and is the largest organized sports program for Jewish teens in the world. In addition to sports, athletes experience home hospitality, help other people through community-service projects in Days of Caring and Sharing, get a taste of Israel at Hang Time, and meet Jewish teens from around the world. The Games are co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Center Association of North America, Maccabi World Union, Maccabi Canada, and Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel.

Our community is very proud to be participating in the Games, where today's Jewish athletes are tomorrow's Jewish leaders.

Pittsburgh JCC Maccabi is supported in part by the Fred Hoffman Maccabi Memorial Scholarship Fund, Larry Ruttenberg Fund, Joel Sigal Maccabi Fund and The Western Pennsylvania Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

The JCC Maccabi Games® have been offering a life- and personality-shaping experience to Jewish teenagers since 1982.

At this Jewish Olympic style event, each athlete has the chance to participate in one of 14 sports and events spanning the week-long experience, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The JCC Maccabi Games® may be called the Olympics for Jewish teens, but they serve a larger purpose than athletic competition. The Games also promote community involvement, teamwork and pride in being Jewish.

The Games are the largest Jewish teen event in the world. Each summer, more than 6,000 Jewish teens participate in the Games and more than 100,000 teens have benefited from the JCC Maccabi Games® since 1982. The energy and excitement make it a unique and unforgettable experience for every participant, from athletes to volunteers, from coaches to host families.

The JCC Maccabi Games® are made possible with the generous help of many sponsors and volunteers who donate time and valuable resources, including our continental sponsor, The Coca-Cola® Company.
